Plumbing fixtures, on the other hand are kitchen sinks, faucets, toilets, showers, bidet, water heater and bathtubs.

Any person can do some basic fixes. A shower head leak can be easily restored without the help of a contractor. Clogged drains are a simple do it yourself plumbing project. Gutters don’t have to be maintained by professionals. All you need to do is clean it yourself once a week to avoid clogging.

But how about fixing a faucet? Here are some tips for you:

1. Before fixing a faucet, the water supply should be off. If there is a valve near that certain faucet, we can turn that off so that it won’t affect water supply in other parts of the house.

2. Remove the piece where there is leak. If you are removing small pieces, like screws, put it in a secure place to avoid losing it.

3. Check the faucet. If there is corrosion, you can clean it or replace it.

4. Clean all open valves before replacing the faucet.

5. Tighten all screws and fittings.

6. Turn on the water to check if it is still leaking, if there is no leak then you are good to go.

Before starting your plumbing work, make sure to get all the materials needed. You don’t want to leave the work are undone, for safety reasons. When buying plumbing supplies, you can make a list of the things you need. You can also bring the part that needs to be replaced to make sure it will perfectly fit your valves.
